Governor Patterson’s plan is as short-sighted as the many corporations who have particiaped in the employment reduction frenzi which brings down costs but eliminates the buyers of their products. We all know money is in short supply, but has anyone looked at real reform -changes in curriculum – still patterned after the 1892 Committee of Ten recomendations; seat-time for course credit and with that, the necessity of all students attending five days/week – thus saving energy and money on the yellow busses.
These are just some examples of what needs to be dialogued by the policy-makers, unions and the legislators. Time is wasting and the grim-reaper is slashing away.
